Last month, as a part of the ‘season of giving’, Pelican Adventures made a donation of 5.000 florins to the Koningin Wilhelmina Fonds, a well-respected local foundation with the objective to prevent and fight cancer in Aruba. The foundation is not subsidized, so every donation is welcome to continue in their work to provide support to cancer

Last month Pelican Adventures and Pelican Nest celebrated the end of the year with all their employees. During the festive event Mrs. Alexandra (Sandra) Simmons, Accounting Manager at Pelican Adventures, was named Employee of the Year. It was a double celebration for her, as Sandra Simmons also celebrated her 25th anniversary with Pelican Adventures. 

The thought of Aruba conjures up images of fofoti trees leaning lazily over white sand beaches; of tangled mangroves shading still, turquoise waters. But those who venture beyond the idyllic west coast will find it’s an island of topographical contradictions: Just minutes from those familiar tropical scenes, cacti rise from arid earth while volcanic cliffs are beaten down by powerful surf to the east.

On Saturday August 12th a special coffee tasting event took place at Starbucks, located in the hotel lobby of the Aruba Marriott Resort. For the very first time in Aruba, Starbucks partnered with a local writer during their regular coffee tasting event. Media personality and author Rona Coster was invited to sign copies of her new book Island Life, Aruba’s Best-Kept Diary. 

Sarah-Quita Offringa continues to make Aruba proud as she claims her 10th windsurfing Freestyle World Title! This year’s PWA World Cup was action packed, filled with top of the line competition, making it quite possibly the most exciting one yet.
