Lauderdale during the the 2013 International Classic Invitational obtaining silver and gold medals. Over seventy-five entrants participated in the International Miniature boat races on July 28, 2013 in Aruba. Participants also included enthusiasts from Curacao, St. Maarten and Bonaire. The races were held at the Governor's Beach in Oranjestad where these miniature vessels competed strictly on sail power using only fishing line for control.

The Minister of Tourism, Transport and Labor together with the Minister of Infrastructure, Immigration and Environment and the Minister Finance, Telecommunications, Utilities and Energy announced their plans to improve three under used beaches on Aruba. The three targeted areas are Baby Beach in San Nicolas, Surfside on the eastern end of Oranjestad, and the bay at Cura Cubai, at the western end of San Nicolas, which offers excellent conditions for many water activities.

The Junior League World Series is a baseball tournament for children 13, 14 and 15 years and takes place annually. Participating countries in this League are: Aruba, Costa Rica, Colombia, Curacao, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Republic of El Salvador, Virgin Islands and Venezuela.

Two years ago Kyra won the championship for synchronized swimming in the ’12 years and under’ category. Two years later -at the Central American and Caribbean Swimming Championships (CCCAN Championships) - she did it again and went home with two gold medals in the category 13-15 years old. The CCCAN Championships are a biennial aquatics sports championship for countries in Central America and the Caribbean. In additional to CCCAN members residents of Columbia, Surinam and Venezuela may also participate in these championships.

The fifteen year old BMX biker Zaitheyl Soekandar was recently added to the Wall of Fame in Paseo Herencia Shopping Mall. The Wall of Fame showcases young athletes who demonstrate their talent, determination and tenacity to attain a medal winning status in international sports competitions. Zaitheyl got a place on the wall next to windsurfer Sarah Quita Offringa, swimmers Jordy Groters, Jemal Le Grand, Daniella van den Berg, Allyson Ponson and synchronized swimmers Kyra Hoevertsz and Anouk Eman.
