Local Artist Carla P. Giglione Guillen is Caribbean Queen for February 2016

Each month, Caribbean Queen at the Palm Beach Plaza Mall honors one local female artist who lives and creates here.  The Caribbean Queen program was launched when the store opened in late 2011, and has been running successfully ever since. For the month of February 2016, local artist Carla P. Giglione Guillen is the boutique’s celebrated Caribbean Queen, showcasing her charming artwork in the store.

Born in Venezuela and raised on Aruba, surrounded by a family of artists, singers, musicians, and painters, Carla knew that art would be her calling. She went back to Venezuela to complete her academic education, and while she was finishing the requirements for her Bachelor in Psychology, she also met her soul mate, whom she then married.

Back in Aruba, Carla successfully juggled a professional career, motherhood, and entrepreneurial initiatives, but to combat the stress of everyday life, she took her own psychological advice and picked up a therapeutic hobby, painting, which yielded the current collection on display at the store and an accessories line.

Carla reports finding relief and happiness in her work, which she calls simple and effortless. She believes we all have an artistic aspect to our personality, which should be explored and exploited.  She uses mixed techniques such as acrylics, oil pastels, decoupage, and doodling, and she hopes the public will enjoy her inspirations.

Caribbean Queen earmarks a percentage of all sales for its Tikkun Olam (Repair of the World) program. The collected funds are given quarterly to local not-for-profit organizations in an ongoing effort to serve the community. All the foundations served with donations from Caribbean Queen are dedicated to the promotion of art and artisan education on the island.

Carla’s unique collection is on display throughout the month of February, and you are invited to drop in to witness a live demonstration of her craft at the store on the third Thursday of the month in the evening hours.
