Wine Spectator Recognizes Elements Excellence

Elements Restaurant is proud to announce the most prestigious honor of the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence, which reflects a steadfast dedication and unwavering passion for building and growing an outstanding wine program.

Of millions of restaurants worldwide, only 2,289 restaurants earned the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence, which recognizes thoughtfully chosen wine lists that offer quality and diversity, as well as compatibility with the restaurant’s style and menu. These lists can range in size from just under 100 to several hundred selections.

The Award of Excellence “is a great reward for the work that’s gone into the wine list,” said Marc Giesbers, Food and Beverage Director for the Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort and also a Michelin Star trained Chef and fine wine connoisseur.

We asked Chef Marc to comment on how he was able to create an award-winning wine list and what it consists of:

“Setting up the wine list is a professional job, next to that the rules and regulations set by Wines Spectator makes the ‘job’ challenging. We keep in mind the international group of guests we welcome here at Bucuti and Tara Beach Resort, meaning we list winesfrom all over the world, from light styled, easy-going to fuller-bodied, more powerful wines.“

Our wines originate from different regions”, Marc continues, “… for example, an interesting region is the New York Finger lake district, a more white wines focused region; listed are the wines of Dr. Konstantin Frank, a pioneer back in time, he was the first to grow the vitis vinifera, the common grape vine, the one giving grapes for wine production. I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Fred “Konstatin” Frank last March as a guest of Elements. Many other wine regions are appealing, and we are happy to help guests choose the best for the time of the day, or the chosen cuisine. I recommend guests to try out the Viognier from the Yalumba winery, an award-winning wine from Australia, it is a lovely surprise. Viognier being the famous grape from the Rhone region in France, making promising wines around the world.”

“I’ve chosen wines specifically to pair well with the menu I’ve created.” Chef Marc explains “…most wines are food wines, of course you have stand-alone as well, like a glass of Bollinger Champagne. Nothing beats a powerful Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon from Silverado Vineyards paired with one of our top-quality sirloin steaks…a match in heaven!
