A historic day for Aruba as the FIFA World Cup Trophy arrived in Aruba

ORANJESTAD — For the 2014 FIFA World Cup™, Coca-Cola is creating the world’s most inclusive, participatory experiential event ever. The FIFA World Cup™ Trophy Tour by Coca-Cola will give more than one million people the chance to experience the FIFA World Cup Trophy™ in their own communities.

This is the largest and longest global tour of the FIFA World Cup™ Trophy. Visiting 88 countries during an nine month journey, the FIFA World Cup™ Trophy Tour by Coca-Cola will be the first ever pan-Latin America tour, with events in 39 countries across the region that is home to the host nation, Brazil. The tour will also be visiting 50 new countries that have never had the opportunity to host the trophy.
The FIFA World Cup™ Trophy is flying from country to country on a specially chartered Coca-Cola plane.
On Saturday it was Aruba’s turn.

Prime Minister and company receives FIFA Cup in Aruba
Saturday was A historic day for Aruba as it was the very first time that the most important sport trophy in the world, the FIFA World Cup, arrived on Aruba. From very early a large group of invitees as well as the press and a large group of citizens were at the Aviation Terminal to receive the cup. The cup traveled from Curacao on a special Coca Cola airplane, one of the official supporters of the World Cup in football.
Among the invitees were the Governor of Aruba, Prime Minister, Minister of Education, Michelle Hooyboer-Winklaar, Minister of Public Health Alex Schwengle and President of AVB Richard Dijkhoff.

In their traditional manner the Fire Department spouted water on the airplane giving in this manner the crew and passengers a warm welcome to our island. The ceremony continued with different dance groups performing for the invitees. A few government officials were allowed on the aircraft to meet with executives of FIFA and Coca Cola, The Prime Minister had the honor of being one of the first to see the FIFA CUP. This was followed with official discourses by representatives of FIFA.

AVB President, Dijkhoff also spoke, Marketing Manager of Tropical Bottling Company, Vanessa Hollander and Minister of Sports, Alex Schwengle also had words to share. Schwengle explained that he was impressed to see the CUP for the first time. It is a great honor for Aruba to receive the world cup.

The FIFA CUP travels around the world with the protection of executives of the FBI, also during the visit to Aruba.
