Aruba Dande Celebration

We don't hear much of Dande being played until after Christmas.

Along with lighting pagara (long string of Chinese firecrackers) and the many fireworks, Arubans also usher in the New Year with traditional Dande music.

It used to consist of groups of musicians going from house to house, door to door, singing good-luck greetings for the New Year. However, present day it has become more of a festival consisting of groups singing, performing and competing. It is held towards the end of December at Plaza Betico Croes.

Tentative date for 2018 is Dec. 27th, please refer here for more information.
