How This Charming Aruba Hotel Captured the Global Spotlight at Mews Unfold 2026

During Unfold, a technology forum hosted by Mews on May 27 in Amsterdam, Boardwalk Boutique Hotel Aruba made the top three of finalists in the Guest Impact Award category; the 2026 awards listed 33 public nominations. The awards spotlight Mews customers using Mews, AI or hotel technology to drive innovation and change. Boardwalk Boutique Hotel Aruba was nominated with their Slow Summer campaign, launched in summer 2025. A second edition started June 1, 2026 and runs through August, offering exclusive activities, complimentary experiences and amenities.

Boardwalk’s Summer Campaign emerged after rethinking what summer could be for the island, the business and Boardwalk’s guests, aimed at a more sustainable approach. This program was about reshaping demand, encouraging summer travel and easing pressure on the island during peak season. Technology connected targeted campaigns, guest profiles, app bookings and team follow-ups, enabling the Slow Summer guest experience without operational complexity. Activities with a softer footprint offered a new appreciation for the island, from floating sound baths and storytelling by local artists to movie nights under the stars featuring Aruba’s nature.

Unfold 2026 was attended by hotel owners Stephanie and Kimberly Rooijakkers and Assistant General Manager Mickael Mesker. At the hospitality forum for innovation, they shared insights and explored the industry’s future with hundreds of hoteliers, technology leaders and visionaries. Unfold was especially exciting because Mews launched new automations, supporting Boardwalk’s quest to deliver the highest possible level of hospitality, with technology as the silent enabler of guest happiness.
