The collaboration between popular European DJ Chuckie, creator of the “Dirty Dutch” mix of House and Trance music, resulted in a remarkable event this past weekend, which brought planeloads to the island and thousands to the special arena at Nikky Beach.

Noted international DJ’s included Slash and Erick Morillo, Baggi Begovic, along with Connor Cruise, Mitchell Niemeyer, Nero, Nicole Moudaber, Boris and Mastiksoul, more than 20 DJ’s including several Aruban and regional favorites, drew a huge audience. Unquestionably, the line up of the Aruba Electric Festival elicited an incredible response and attendance from EDM fanatics from Europe, Latin and North America, and can be counted as one of the most successful musical events the island has ever hosted.

The weekend was punctuated by celebrity brunches and dinners for which the tickets could be purchased, along with beach and after parties. It was, however, the extravagant concert setup and venue, boasting an impressive lightshow and the deft patter of MC Roga, which fueled the excitement as headliner sultans of spin took to the turntables and the audience gyrated to the beat until the wee hours of the morning. Sultry weather did not deter or diminish the electric event, as this debut addition to Aruba’s annual schedule brought a new demographic to discover the island. Judging by this spectacular debut, the Electric Festival is a welcome addition to Aruba’s September lineup.
