We predict ferocious battles between the top world-ranked beach tennis players on Eagle Beach next week, when the Aruba International Beach Tennis tournament gets underway.

From November 11-17 the hot sand will sizzle with the impact of the footprints and body dives of these awesome players, many of whom come from Italy, where beach tennis finds its roots.

World champion Alessandro Calbucci and Alex Mingozzi (7), back after a shoulder injury, are both from Italy; they’ll be here. Vinicius Font (5) from Brazil will be flying in together with a plane-load of players in all categories; some of them even bringing their own fans along.

The top women players in the world come from Brazil and Aruba is happy to welcome them back: bon bini Joana Cortez (1), Samantha Brijan (1) and Flavia Muniz (6).

They will surely find Julie Labrit (19) from France across the net, but our bets are on Aruba’s pro Maria Buuts, whose world ranking is now number 16.

Bertrand Coulet, MooMba’s beach tennis pro, is our best, really outstanding male player, with a ranking of 55, while Cado de Lannoy (97), Sergio Jie Sam Foek (184) and Jochem Ros (242) are gearing up for great action.

We hope that the Arubans will impress everyone during the Nations Cup, held on Friday, November 15. Come and cheer them on, please!

Who else will be coming to Aruba to play? There are Americans from the East- and West Coast, Venezuelans, counting on surprising everyone, the Belgians and the guys from the Czech Republic, who are tough to beat, and many more international players, who are flying in for a week of athletics in the sand.

DJ’s will see to the party atmosphere during the event, as is customary, so even if you don’t know anything about beach tennis, you can come down next week to enjoy the atmosphere, the cool bikinis, the gorgeous abs and muscles and the excellent food and drinks.

The temperature is already rising on the island while the site gets built, the flags put up, the food court stocked and the bleachers, lights and stage set up: yes, we’re ready for the fantastic action of the 2013 Aruba International Beach Tennis Tournament! Play ball!
