The fifth Aruba International Regatta is underway!

This year on August 9, 10 and 11 the fifth Aruba International Regatta will take place on Aruba. Three days of action and competition for yachts, beach cats, sunfishes, optimists, windsurfers and kite surfers; three evenings of music and parties for all participants and spectators. The sailors will compete for the Budget Marine cup for the winner in the most competitive class. This cup will be awarded for the third time this year and has a value of afl. 1000. For the youngest sailors there will be optimist races and there will be down wind races for the kite surfers and wind surfers.

Aruban swimmers put Aruba on the map in Florida

Aruba has many talented athletes, including Jordy and Patrick Groters who made a name for themselves last weekend in Ft. Lauderdale during the the 2013 International Classic Invitational obtaining silver and gold medals. Up next is the 2013 Central American and Caribbean Championship in San Jose Costa Rica where they will form part of the national selection of Aruba.

Aruba will host Mrs. Universe 2013

Aruba has been chosen as the venue for the Mrs. Universe 2013 pageant where 40 contestants will be competing for the title. Mrs. Miranne Geerman will be representing Aruba at this event that will take place at the Westin Resort and Casino on August 11, 2013.

Beautification projects announced for three Aruban beaches

The Minister of Tourism, Transport and Labor together with the Minister of Infrastructure, Immigration and Environment and the Minister Finance, Telecommunications, Utilities and Energy announced their plans to improve three under used beaches on Aruba. The three targeted areas are Baby Beach in San Nicolas, Surfside on the eastern end of Oranjestad, and the bay at Cura Cubai, at the western end of San Nicolas, which offers excellent conditions for many water activities.

Aruba put on a great performance during the Junior League Latin America Games

Aruba hosted the Junior Latin American Baseball League for the first time and the community is proud on Aruba’s results so far. The Junior League World Series is a baseball tournament for children 13, 14 and 15 years and takes place annually. Participating countries in this League are: Aruba, Costa Rica, Colombia, Curacao, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Republic of El Salvador, Virgin Islands and Venezuela.
