KLM makes longest biofuel flight with an Airbus aircraft to Aruba

On May 17th the KLM arrived on Aruba after a 10 hour flight from Amsterdam. The KLM Airbus flew with a 20% blend of sustainable jet fuel, made of used cooking oil and the arrival on Aruba marked the longest biofuel flight made with an Airbus aircraft. KLM and the Dutch government have chosen Aruba and Bonaire as the best destination for this flight as both island placed sustainability high on their agenda’s.

On Saturday May 24 National Park Arikok will host the third Movie Night at the Park of this year. This time the focus will be on nature and the importance of nature conservation, and the footage will show impressions of nature and wild life in South America.

New flights from Aruba to Georgetown, British Guyana with InselAir

InselAir announced that it will start operating flights from Aruba to Georgetown, British Guyana as of June 18th 2014. InselAir will start operating 2 flights a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, to Georgetown. Until June 15th 2014, InselAir will offer special introduction fares to Georgetown.

Clarification on visitors with property in Aruba policy

A press release about the changes in entry requirements was recently published. The update caused some confusion, especially among our visitors with property on Aruba. The Ministry of Urban Development, Infrastructure and Integration together with the Ministry of Tourism, Transportation, Primary Sector and Culture would like to explain the policy and clear up the misunderstanding.

The 20th edition of the National Polesitting Championships in Aruba will start on May 29th. So far 4 participants have registered for the 20th polesitting edition were they will try to break the record of 88 hours in order to raise as much money as possible for Foundation Bon Nochi, Drumi Bon.

Sixteen Arubans got the honor to receive medals of the Order of the House of Orange on King’s Day 2014

Each year the decoration and knighting of individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the community is taking place in conjunction with King’s Day. This year sixteen Arubans got the honor to receive a medal from the Order of Orange-Nassau. Four of them were designated ‘Knights in the Order of Orange Nassau’ and the other twelve were designated as ‘Member in the Order of Orange Nassau’.

Aruban musicians play most popular compositions of Padu Lampe as a tribute to his 94th birthday

Composer Juan Chabaya “Padu” Lampe of Aruba’s National Anthem ‘Aruba Dushi Tera’ turned 94 on April 26th. Every year Arubans celebrate his birthday by paying a tribute with cultural contributions. This year Johnny Croes organized a special concert at Cas di Cultura were several musicians performed the most popular compositions of Juan Chabaya “Padu” Lampe.
