Eagle Beach – As a health-oriented resort Manchebo Beach Resort & Spa is now proudly offering Pilates lessons at the resort.
The lessons take place in the beautiful newly renovated beach pavilion. This exotic location features a hard wooden Walaba floor and thatch roof overlooking the white beach and turquoise Caribbean Sea.
The resort has an experienced Pilates team with classes taught by Chris O’Connell and Barbara Franke who will make sure you get the perfect work out for your body. The lessons are offered Monday thru Saturday in addition to the existing yoga class schedule.
The daily yoga classes, which are offered 10 times a week by Rachel Brathen, have been a popular feature for years with a mix of resort guests, visitors from other hotels and locals attending daily. The resort is now proudly expanding the health program by offering their guests 6 weekly Pilates classes to stay active while enjoying their vacation!
Pilates is a physical fitness system developed in the early 20th century by Joseph Pilates. He called his method “Contrology” because he believed his method uses the mind to control the muscles. The program focuses on the core postural muscles which help keep the body balanced and which are essential to providing support for the spine. In particular, Pilates exercises teach awareness of breath and alignment of the spine, and aim to strengthen the deep torso muscles. Pilates improves mental and physical well-being, increases flexibility and strengthens muscles. Through controlled movements done on a mat with a flex ball or Pilates ring, these 50-minute classes will tone and strengthen from head to toe – a kick-start to your day!
