Conquer the Island Trails: First Edition of “Leyenda del Dorado Aruba” Coming in October

Aruba’s reputation as a world-class outdoor and wellness destination is gearing up for a thrilling new chapter. From October 9 to 11, 2026, the island will host the inaugural edition of Leyenda del Dorado Aruba, an international mountain biking (MTB) competition that promises to blend high-octane sport with Aruba’s breathtaking natural landscapes.

A True Test on Authentic Terrain

The three-day stage race will challenge cyclists with demanding routes traversing Aruba’s most striking and rugged terrain—from dramatic coastlines and arid inland tracks to technical, exposed trails. Developed in close collaboration with local specialists and an international team boasting a decade of global mountain biking event experience, the race is designed for riders looking to conquer unique, off-road conditions.

Rather than just a race, the event serves as a showcase for Aruba’s newly developed and improved network of mountain bike trails. Funded in part by investments from the Aruba Tourism Authority (ATA), these trails are designed to encourage active exploration while prioritizing the responsible use and long-term conservation of the island’s natural environment.

Merging Sports, Wellness, and Sustainability

The arrival of the Leyenda Island Series aligns seamlessly with Aruba’s broader tourism vision: championing wellness, active lifestyles, and sustainable travel. By pairing rigorous athletic competition with direct immersion in nature, the event aims to attract international athletes and sports enthusiasts who prefer multi-day travel experiences, encouraging longer stays and a deeper connection to the destination.

Driven by Local Passion and Global Expertise

The event is supported on the ground by the Caribbean Trail Legends Foundation Aruba, working hand-in-hand with local cycling clubs, strategic partners, and volunteers to elevate the island’s sports culture and infrastructure.

“La Leyenda Island Series Aruba is much more than a race. It’s the realization of a shared dream… Aruba offers exceptional terrain and a strong cycling culture, making it the ideal setting for our next edition. Our goal has never been to be the biggest race in the world, but simply the most beloved.”

Whether you’re a competitive mountain biker looking for your next big challenge or a fan eager to witness world-class cycling against a backdrop of sun-drenched coastal beauty, October in Aruba is set to deliver an unforgettable adventure.
