Love, sustainability, and community spirit came together this World Climate Action Day as Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort launched its newest initiative: Plant a Tree of Love. The Caribbean’s most sustainable resort invited guests to plant native trees at the Bucuti & Tara – GMC Nature Preserve in Noord, turning climate awareness into hands-on action and growing a greener future for Aruba.
Planting Love and Legacy
Guests Mr. and Mrs. Maccini and Mr. and Mrs. Ballweg joined Bucuti & Tara’s dedicated team, with transportation provided by Fofoti Tours, to take part in this inaugural event. Together, they planted native species that will thrive for generations to come—symbolizing both their love for one another and their love for Aruba.
“Creating our Plant a Tree of Love program allows us to go beyond reducing emissions on our resort grounds. It reflects our belief that true climate action is about regeneration, inviting our guests and community to take part in restoring and protecting Aruba’s natural heritage.”
— Crescenzia Biemans, Managing Director, Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort

The Plant a Tree of Love program will expand in 2026, offering more couples the chance to celebrate their bond while helping restore the island’s natural landscape. Each tree becomes a living reminder of connection—between people, planet, and place.
A Leader in Climate Action
Recognized as the Caribbean’s first and only certified carbon-neutral hotel, Bucuti & Tara continues to lead by example in the global tourism community. Its 32-acre Bucuti & Tara – GMC Nature Preserve serves as a sanctuary for biodiversity, education, and carbon capture. Working with local NGO Ban Lanta y Planta, the resort has planted more than 1,200 native trees and plants, helping restore Aruba’s ecosystems and natural resilience.
Partnerships with the University of Aruba further the preserve’s mission through research on carbon sequestration—key data that supports Aruba’s long-term sustainability strategies.
“The preserve is more than a carbon sink. It’s a living classroom and a gift to our island where nature, people, and knowledge come together. By protecting and restoring our ecosystems, we show that even a small island can make a meaningful contribution to global climate action.”
— Ewald Biemans, Founder, Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort
Growing Together for a Sustainable Aruba
Bucuti & Tara’s environmental journey has been marked by firsts—from achieving CarbonNeutral® certification and LEED Gold status to receiving a United Nations Climate Action Award. Through its on-site programs and its supply-chain initiative Tara Eco Supplies, the resort continues to reduce emissions and invest in nature-based solutions like the preserve.
The resort extends heartfelt thanks to the guests, team members, and partners who made the first Plant a Tree of Love event a success—especially Fofoti Tours for their generous support. Together, they planted not only trees, but hope for a thriving, sustainable Aruba. 🌱
