Security Measures

Security Measures In connection with the tragic terrorist attacks on the USA on September 11, 2001, the management of the Aruba Airport Authority (AAA) N.V. in light of the National Aviation Security program of Aruba, enhanced the security measures at the Queen Beatrix International airport. Unfortunately these measures include the restrictions on some items and devices which, under normal circumstances, are of daily use by bonafide persons. It has proven however that these items or devices can be converted into lethal weapons.

The list mentioned may serve as guidance for passengers to know what they shall not carry in their hand luggage when leaving Aruba. These items should be put in their checked baggage unless they form a hazard (dangerous goods) The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the USA also enhanced the security requirements for the air-carriers flying to the USA. FAA inspectors who have visited Aruba have expressed their satisfaction on the measures taken by the Aruba Airport Authority N.V, which are at times more restrictive perhaps than those of FAA. Also many passengers leaving Aruba have expressed their gratitude to AAA for the care that is taken of the well-being of the crews and passengers.

For security reasons no details can be provided on the reasons for the measures taken. The Management of AAA.N.V. hopes that all of us involved will know to adapt ourselves to this very unpleasant situation which hopefully will be resolved soon.
