Lev Have been staying at the Aruba Grand for 10 yrs and the service has gotten worst. My opinion, DONT STAY THERE. If you dont mind getting up at 7am, yes 7am, every morning to get a shadded area, if you dont mind NOT getting the type of room you have a written comformation for, if you dont mind nothing short of FAIRY tales when you ask to have something corrected, then stay there. ILU jack and lynn stayed @ allegro thanksgiving week.as for service it was one of the worst places i and wife have ever stayed at and will never stay again,this was our 2nd trip to aruba,people are very nice you can't beat them. no towels for the whole week,don't think food was that good,$240.00 a day is way to much. jerry recently came back from a stay at the allegro, was very disappointed with the front desk. we had to fight each day for bath towel & face cloths(not the helps fault). got caught once in heavy downpour at 3 pm, went to dry off -no towels. clue: bring a couple of face cloths, get clean beach towels each afternoon leaving the beach & hold on to them just in case. other than that nice place & we are going back in may & bringing face cloths. problems on the beaches are being worked on around the clock & things are moving along nicely. hi everyone, I am a fellow Arubian living and studying in the big Apple. This is truly a wonderfull website, it really made me feel as if I was back home again. I always knew Aruba was a great place, but it is nice to hear it from other people as well. I am glad that so many people are interested in our one happy island and can guarantee anyone and everyone that they will have a good time. One advise to anyone going, mingle with the locals, they will show you the time of your life. Have fun, love you always Aruba. Liy Part IV By the time we did get back to the hotel, there was a msg from the pilot, saying that he'd pick me up @ 9 PM, it was then 9:40 pm. I wanted to cry. The next a.m. he called me to find out what happened. He thought I stood him up and that someone else must have swept me off my feet. I re-assured him that no that did not happen, we just merely had car trouble. The pilot and I didn't meet up again until my last night in Aruba and needless to say it was a night I would never forget. It started w/ dinner @ L'Escale, a drive around the island, a stop for walk along the beach, with a full moon as our back-drop, a romantic kiss, and...yadda, yadda yadda... ARUBA I will never forget ya! Liy PART III We chatted, laughed, and he offered to take me to the beach, as we followed my friends. Turns out we had a lot of the same interests ...namely, jazz. We made arrangements for a future date. The day of the date, he called me that a.m. to confirm plans for the evening. I went out shopping in town that day with just enough time to spare to get back to the hotel and prepare for my date. As my friends & I got into our rental car, it wouldn't start. Oh no! We had to wait to have the battery charged. Meanwhile, the clock was ticking. I was upset. I could have left my friends and took a taxi to the hotel, but what kind of friend would I be if I did that. Liy PART II I approached him, again mentioned what a great flight it was...yadda , yadda, yadda... He told me his flight schedule for the rest of the week and we exchanged numbers. After a long day of sightseeing in Aruba, I entered my hotel room & there was a message for me... the pilot had called. I felt like a schoolgirl all over again. I was grinning from ear to ear. I didn't hear from him for a few days due to his schedule. After giving up hope that I would ever see him again, my friends & I were on our way to the beach to jetski. I told them I would meet them in the lobby of our hotel. As I walked across reception, who did I see walking in through the front door... the pilot. It was like fate. Liy I was last in Aruba in April '99 for a week. My trip was absolutely fabulous. In my own words, it was simply a fairy tale come true. Upon arrival @ the Airport, while checking in, I was approached by a handsome man who appeared to be a flight attendant. We engaged in small talk and finally he went on his way. As he left, I looked at my watch, I smiled to myself , saying what an attractive man that was, and how early in the a.m it was to try and pick me up. :) As I boarded the plane, I happened to glance into the cockpit, and there, to my surprise, was the attractive man, who I thought was a flight attendant. My husband and I had such a terrific time the food, service, and most of all the attention that we received from all the Arubians. We are already planning our next trip. Piper Visited Aruba the last week of October and absolutely loved it! Stayed at the Marriott Aruba Ocean Club. Found the staff to be wonderful, the rooms very spacious, and the service impeccable! Best places to eat: Tuscany, El Gaucho, and Buccaneer. Heard Driftwood is good, but didn't get a chance to go. Stay away from Simply Fish, and Royal Casino buffet. Also found The Mill disappointing. For water activities, Red Sail Sports is definately the way to go! Have great dive packages. Also, the scuba instructors are super friendly and professional. For anyone planning a trip, email me if you have questions! Bob I would like to say that your website is VERY enjoyable and educational. I probably have looked at every page and I find it one of the best sites I've seen in many years. In the business I'm in, you can't imagine how many wonderful things I've heard about Aruba. The clean beaches and friendly people. I've never been there yet, but it sounds like the kind of place I wish Miami was.
Just want to warn visitors about Sean and Paul Jewelers. When you make a purchase, they assure you of their service by including an 800 number on their receipt and packaging. My experience was to call them twice, give them all of the information they require, and each time they told me they would call back, once within a half hour and the other time in 15 minutes. Both calls were ignored. You are back home and they are in Aruba, and they don't bother to return your call and there is nothing you can do. I will return to Aruba, but not to Sean or Paul Jewelers, and all of my travelling friends will know about these stores. It is a must as you must experience it to love it.. I plan to return this December. Have always had beautiful weather, the restaurants are great, and the resort is the best in Aruba from what we've seen (especially the large beach). Only complaint is the ever-increasing airfares! The worst part was saying goodbye, but there is still hope that I'll go again the next year! Danny What a wonderful Island. My wife and I just returned from our first trip last week. We will be going back next year. We stayed at the Holiday Inn and did not go all inclusive, this turned out to be much less expensive for just 2 people, maybe a good deal for a large family, but the cost would have been $1000. extra for the all inclusive for 5 days. No way did we spend that much on food and drink. Plus we had the option of having many of our meals away from the hotel. Tracy Hi! Once again we thoroughly enjoyed our trip, having stayed at the Aruba Grand Resort (formerly the Palm Beach Resort) all three trips. The accommodations were excellent, staff more than adequate & the food was great. One of the best beaches on the island, not as crowded, more relaxing! My son (13 yrs. old) met a wonderful young lady there which made his stay delightful. Highly recommend the facilities & cannot wait to return for our fourth visit. We absolutely love it there. The people are wonderful. I can't imagine spending our vacation anywhere else. Our favorite restaurant is the Chalet Suisse. It's a little expensive but we couldn't visit our island without stopping there. If you are looking for an island to visit, look no further. It's the best!!!!! Marc Had a wonderful time. We own a timeshare in Aruba. Costa Linda. Aruba is a wonderful island to visit. We spend two weeks every December in Aruba. People are friendly, island is clean, food is great and of course beaches are the best. Last December, 1998 I became quite ill and went to the hospital and my family told me after it was all over that the nurses took such good care of me, as if I was one of their own. (I was in a coma so unfortunately did not really meet anyone.) Love Aruba.... will be back in December, 1999. Justice HI... Unlike no other, Aruba gave me the ocean, sand, and sun. The people there were the most friendliest that I have ever met in my sixteen years of living. I spent only a week there yet I found the small island in the caribiean truly breath taking. Coming all the way from Canada it took a while to get to Aruba and once I did set foot on the island I never wanted to leave. We met a good friend in Aruba. We write to each other all the time. Arubian people are so friendly. When you go, make sure that you go to Baby Beach. It is the best place to snorkel! De-Palm island is the second best place to snorkel in Aruba. Beautiful big parrot fish there. Climb Mt. Hooiberg too ( Aruba calls it Haystack ) That is quite an experience. You can see Venezeula from the top. We are going back in 2000. Can't wait! Summer We are going to Aruba in June but will only be there for 2 days and nights.
