Enjoyed horseback riding with Carlos from Rancho di Campo to the natural pool, had fun galloping on sand dunes, fun ride, hubby went swimming in natural pool also! Carlo is a great guide and he makes the trip so much fun! went to Latin Show downtown at the Casino it was excellent! Had the most wonderful romantic dinner at Sunset at the California Lighthouse, La Trattoria! Went for Gaucho Steak at El Gaucho. Melts in your Mouth! First time to Aruba and We loved the island and People, we took cabs and buses and got around just fine! Happy Hour and Buffet at Playa Linda is great and Gilligans at Radisson has the best Indonesian Chicken and Drinks too! Enjoy! and Pack light! We spent 5 days (10/18-10/23) at the Allegro Resort-now officially the Occcidental Grand-Aruba. Although the public areas were quite nice, the guestrooms are in need of refurbishing and as of now are quite seedy. We did not take the all-inclusive package and found restaurants within easy walking distance. They were much more reasonably priced than the hotel's. The beaches and the water were great,service over all was fine. May visit the island again sometime but probably would try a newer facility. Living in South Florida, we are spoiled. We were greeted with a room that had more than we expected. Mold that is! The room had mold growing from the ceilings throughout and the master bathroom tile was poping up off the floor from the mold growing underneath. The MOLD odor managed to endure through 1 bottle of perfum,1 bottle of febreeze and several glade stick ups. We had a king size bed, which collasped at the foot. We sat in ahh as we watched the parade of rats roaming around the pool area. The staff seemed pleasant so long as you ask for nothing special. As for the diving in Aruba it stinks. The water is cold and murky which limits the visibility to less than 40 ft even in shallow water. This was our first visit to Aruba, and if we get there again in this lifetime it will be too soon. Dave Krueger We just returned from Aruba. July 17 -23rd, 2002. Best VACATION EVER! Aruba is the "Place to Be" the theme "One Happy Place" barely begins to describe the adventure. The food and dining was wonderful. We attempted to take advantage of the "Aruba Dine Around" program via the net, but a mix up failed to materialize. Worked out just as well. Aruba restaurnats were nothing short of outstanding. Food was cheap considering everywhere, average meal for two with a drink $75.00 USD. Safety, unlike Mexico with its armed guards etc,. We could walk the beaches at night, down the streets, stroll downtown after dark, without any fear or reservations. Aruba is one Happy place, it caters to the tourist and is wonderful. marieke Hello! The Radisson is a great Hotel and I would not think of staying anywhere else. You can eat dinner cheap or expensive. The shopping is great. I can go on and on about Aruba. It is the most safest place and the most beautiful with the natives being the best part of the island. They just can't do enough for you and are totally gracious. The resturants are wonderful. Appreciate your comments.(our first trip) Willie Miller I stayed at the Bushri Beach Resort from 04/20 to 04/27/02 and it was great!You could not ask for a better place to stay!Everybody was nice and very attentive to our needs.I was at some of the high rise's and the Bushri,in my mind was better.In fact,on a couple of days,I over heard some couple's from places like the Holiday Inn and other big resorts trying to change their rooms to there.No joking,Try the Bushri.The only real complaint that I have is,I bought one of those Aruba Advantage cards and nobody would take it!All the places it said it was good at,the resort had cuopons that save me more.Also,it was hard to cash $100 bills.I even was at the central bank and they would not!I took a fishing trip and it was great,I would suggest it.The owner of the boat said that,it is cheaper if you book all of your own things to do.It seems that the resort keeps the deposit that you have to give them,for them self,it is not part of the cost of the activity.Well,I hope you have a good time,we did! I am staying at the Marriot cause I luv it there and I am going to be traveling back and forth from there to the Costa Linda to meet up with some friends and catch some waves. If u want some good restaurants check Don Carlos which has good italian food and is located near where the cruise ships dock and there is some cafe where u can cook ur own steak! thats near there somewhere to and they are both outside restaurants. If you are on the all inclusive make sure to visit Quintina, Cesar, Larry, Michael, and Mario at the pool bar. Bring your thrist. They are all extremely friendly and competent. We were dubious about taking such a long trip after the events of September 11th and even though the news bulletins on the TV were scary, we found we were really enjoying ourselves in Aruba, our first vist, but not our last. We We did the jeep safari (the driver Ivo was mad!!! but very entertaining) and took cruises and snorkelled in the fabulous ocean. I have decided to try diving another time as the coral and fish were out of this world. Our resort was great if rather quiet but that was preferable to rest our weary brains after a busy year working.
