We took an early flight out of
Hartford arriving in Aruba at 1:30pm. Everything went smoothly. We took the DePalm bus
(included with the package we had booked through Liberty Travel) to the Wyndham. The hotel
was beautiful and clean. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Check in went rather slow
but as we found
out through other experiences this seems to be the Aruban way! No hurry-No worry!
We had a great room with a
view of the pool and ocean. I had signed up for Wyndham by request so we had some nice
cold Bud Lights and snacks waiting for us,which we enjoyed on the
balcony. I had also asked for a fridge and there was one waiting-no charge. We brought
some beer of our own so we wouldn't need to find a store. This worked out well for us-we
could enjoy a couple drinks on our balcony before going out. We had decided not to rent a
car. Taxis were always available and we also used the bus system which was easy/cheap. We
enjoyed our first Aruban sunset from our room as we ate our room service
dinner.(Food & bev. credit so why not?) Each morning we made our own coffee which we
enjoyed while we watched the activity around the pool area. Some mornings we ate at the
Dunkin Donuts on the pier. Other mornings we enjoyed the breakfast buffet at the Wyndham.
We went early (7:30/8) when it was quiet. The made to order omelets were delicious. Very
nice buffet. We also checked out the breakfast by the Playa Linda for 7.95. It was ok for
something quick.
Each day we used the internet
"bandit" in the lower lobby to check in at home. For $6 we could pick up
messages and email to the kids. Be warned though the computer is really slow! We found
lots of activities to keep us busy-not enough time to do them all! We enjoyed the ABC all
day jeep tour. We went everywhere including the baby natural bridge.
We even did snorkeling at Baby
Beach. Claude was a wonderful guide. He had many stories to tell. We enjoyed lunch at a
small Aruban rest. We really got to know Aruba with this trip. We
also had fun on the Atlantis Submarine. Again the guides were very friendly.
Afterwards we checked out The Paddock, a nice little place right on the water. We went on the
Thursday Tattoo cruise which was great! Lots of dancing and partying before the
sit down dinner-this as the sun was setting! My husband enjoyed both the slide and the
ropeswing.
We also had a blast on the Kukoo party bus. It was really funny watching everyone come alive. We
had a champagne toast at the
lighthouse to start and then a wonderful sit down dinner at a very impressive home.
Afterwards we danced and partied through some bars around town. This trip was a blast!! We
even bought the CD and some maracas so the 4 kids back home could enjoy our experience!
We had a wonderful dinner at
Madame Janette's. It was everything that I expected. The lights in the garden were
beautiful and the food was excellent. We also enjoyed a romantic dinner at The Pirate's
Nest. We asked for the honeymoon special and were very impressed with the attentive
service. We had a table in the sand, our own waiter, 5 course meal, etc. All this as the
sun was setting. So nice! Perfect way to end our first trip to Aruba! Getting back through
the airport was a rather long process. Our plane was late taking off which was ok-we
weren't ready to leave!!
This trip was a 2nd honeymoon
for us. Everything about it was perfect! We'd love to pay a return to this beautiful
island! Thanks to all who offered constructive advice! It made planning this trip a
breeze!!
