Aruba Trip Report - Allegro Beach Resort
April 6 - April 13 2002
Sent in by: Candice Schaffer

6 of us just returned from the Allegro and what an amazing trip it was!! I keep hearing about the rooms not being so nice but all 3 of our rooms were great. We were all on the 4 floor over looking the pool area.I e-mailed the Allegro about 2 weeks before to request all of our rooms be even numbered and together.--No problem! Feasted on filet mignon and prime rib and have no complaints whatsoever about the food. The bartenders were all great and quick to refill your drink. Caruso's reataurant was excellent and the service there was the best.We had the all inclusive so our tips were includes but we tipped this guy $35 because he was so good. The rest of the service at Papayas and Topaz wer good but nothing special. Getting a chair by the pool or on the beach was never even close to being a problem. The one complaint we did have was the lack of night life at the Allegro-this place was sleeping by 11:30 every night. We went out to carlos n Charlies two nights. Great place to party and really let loose. We also went to El gaucho restaurant!! The best steak I Have ever had!!! We rented our own jeep and did all our sight seeing in one day!! This too was a fun day!! We went snorkeling 3 times and scuba dove 3 times. If you do either go to the ANTILLA WRECK!!! Best marine life we had seen anywhere in the Carribbean!! We also did the Kukookanuku party bus. We were really looking forward to this after hearing so much about it but it's not really that great. It didnt seem like too many people were having much fun. $55 gets you a not-so- good dinner, 3 "free" drinks, a bus ride, and you get to shake a morroca all around the island. Maybe our bus just had a boring crowd!? We didnt do any of the dinner shows-just not our thing-and never really heard anyone talk about them so I can't comment on them. The pool and beach at the Allegro were awesome. We knew people staying at the Wyndham and we thought the Allegro was better.Don't listen to all the negativity about this place it is totally unfounded!! I think people knock it because there is so much going on there(during the day) with everyone drinking and hanging out meeting new people whereas the other resorts seem snobby and stuck upish. Go have fun!! We already booked again for October of this year. Everyone told me to request 5-8th floor but the 4th seemed to be the best. 4th would be ideal if you traveled w/ a group and wanted to keep tabs on where everyone was. because u could see the pool and the pool bar area whereas up above the palm trees obstructed your view. PEACE OUT!! Oh yeah, make sure you meet Gino the "art bartender" We were told to meet him and we didnt get to until our last day.He is awesome!! I wish we had met him at the begining of the week. have him draw you a picture!! hee hee..
