I visited Aruba December 11-16, we were there
mainly to look at the Marriott Ocean Club and decide whether or not we wanted to
purchase a timeshare since my in-laws purchased and were so happy with their experience.
We brought along our 9 month old son and a babysitter so we could get some free time. The
flight from BWI to Aruba was very easy - quick layover in Philadelphia and we were off.
Upon arriving in Aruba we went to the Budget Car Rental to pick up the car that I
had previously reserved over the internet. The process was quick and painless and we were
fairly happy with the car - we are working on a refund since the vehicle had no air
conditioning, no big deal though. anyway- I was always wondering how it would be to travel
with an infant and Aruba was very easy - lots of children - however- when we go back in
April we are not taking him - it will be our chance to relax. I think it will be easier
when he is 5 or so and he can take advantage of the kids club program that the Marriott
has to offer anyway - here is our trip
Tuesday - got into aruba around 4 pm - drove to
Ocean Club - 15 minutes. put luggage away - changed and out to beach bar for a drink, went
to Champions in the Marriott for dinner - that was ok - not great, went to the Marriot's
Casino - do not like this casino - try Hyatt's casino or Al hambra Wednesday - got up
early and went food shopping - this is the best part about a timeshare - the kitchen was
great with the baby and also we took our time and had breakfast in every morning. off to
pool and beach happy hour at waves and dinner at iguana joe's (great drinks - food just
ok) Marriott Casino again Thursday - took the car and drove all over the island - through
the national park - baby beach - dos playas - very fun! went to lunch at the Hyatt and
left for our couple's massage at Cosmos
Day Spa - this was the highlight of our trip - do it!!! dinner right next door at
flying fishbone - awesome! drinks at the local Charlie's Bar and Carlos & Carlies
- meet some great people from the states and drank way too much Friday- nursed my hangover
while my husband golfed at the Robert Trent Jones course - he loved it - but - it was very
expensive, $180 for 18 holes plus he had to rent the clubs pool and relaxation in the
afternoon. very very very bad dinner at Turtle Nest at the Cosa Linda resort - do not go! Hyatt
Casino and home
Saturday - we had our timeshare meeting and
loved the visit so much we decided to buy - relaxed at the pool and grabbed some beers and
watched our last sunset for this vacation in Aruba - went to Salt & Pepper for dinner -
very good Sunday - got the last bit of sun before our long trip home some thoughts -
it was harder to relax since we were only there for 5 days,it takes so long to get there
that you eat up your day traveling to and from. try to go for at least a week to ten days.
loved it - weather was great every
day!
