We stayed at the Marriott on Nov. 12-19, 2001,
and had a fabulous time. We were on our honeymoon, and we went with the All-Inclusive plan
so that we didn't have to shell out any MORE money after the wedding! The plan was well
worth it (five restaurants to choose from + room service, all drinks, very nice room,
& transfers), and we hope do it again. We didn't use the transfers, and took a $20 cab
ride from the airport. We told our driver that it was our first trip to the island, and he
narrated the ride to the hotel, so it was like our own private tour. Well worth the $20.
Our #1 favorite restaurant was Simply Fish. Tables are set up on the beach right next to
the water, and we got a front row seat .... beautiful setting with excellent sea bass and
seafood quesidillas. We also enjoyed ordering room service for breakfast and eating out on
our balcony overlooking the water and the island. (And since we were on the all-inclusive,
we also had beer & snacks set to our room on a regular basis!!)
One of the best activities that we did was horseback riding at Rancho Diamari. I emailed my reservation
request and never heard back from anyone, but then they called our hotel the day before
the ride to confirm, so we were set. We were picked up at our hotel on time. The ride was
about 2.5 hours long... long enough to see some things, but not so long that we couldn't
walk the next day! The horses were mostly well-cared for, and the guides were nice. We
took a quick swim in the Natural Pool (don't expect to stay long) and then rode back to
the ranch. Overall, we found the Marriott to be one of the nicest places to
stay on the island. The pool area is large and the swim-up bar is great; the casino is
nice (check out the one at the Radisson... more of a "casino" feel); and the
staff was very friendly and accommodating. Highly Recommended!!!
