Aruba Trip Report - Divi Phoenix
Travel dates: not dislosed

I would like to let you know that our week at the Aruba Phoenix was
fabulous. The staff at the Phoenix was very supportive. This was our first
visit to Aruba and I had made reservations from information I found on all
the different web pages. The reservations were accepted and we got two
rooms with great views. Our patio looked out over the Phoenix Beach and our
kids' patio looked north toward all the high-rise hotels and their beaches.
Upon our arrival, we noticed some ants in our living room. Housekeeping was
quick to "attack" the situation with bug spray and we never saw the critters
again--the ants not the housekeepers.
Sheryl at the main desk was very helpful. She corrected an error on our
bill and always asked if things were going well when she saw us during the
day.
Our rooms were studios. However, they had a separate bedroom with a pull
out couch if needed. The kitchen was small but we only cooked breakfast and
lunches. The first couple days the maids washed the dishes. Then they left
a small amount of dish soap and I was happy to clean our dishes (that's my
job at home so I am "a pro" at dishwashing). But after two days I used up
the soap and the maid did the last days' dishes. We tipped them
accordingly.
We never ate at the Phoenix restaurant. We wanted to try the "advertised"
restaurants in town. Therefore, I can't comment of the food. However, the
bar was a fun place during happy hour. Drinks were good and reasonably
proceed during happy hour--$2.50. However, $5.00 a drink gets a bit
expensive but all the establishments charged about that much for their
alcoholic drinks.
I would recommend the Phoenix for another reason. If you want a bit more
peaceful atmosphere, the Phoenix is for you. We visited the other high-rise
hotels (it was just a pleasant walk up the beach on a concrete sidewalk) and
they seemed to be busy with hustle and bustle and lots of people. We
enjoyed the lesser activity around our hotel. However, if a family has
children or wants constant activities, the Wyndam, Radisson, Hyatt or
Holiday Inn may be for them. We walked up to the hotel restaurants a couple
times during our stay and it made for a wonderful lunch or dinner experience
with our walk back along the beach to our hotel.
