Check In - We were
priority club members and since there were no others with us upon arrival, check- in was a
breeze. The front desk help was new and wasn't sure exactly what came along with a
priority club member room so we didn't get our basket of fruit or paper until 4 days after
check-in. No The Room - The room didn't have the best view of the beach - great view of the parking lot and some of the ocean, but the room was nice and we weren't going to let alittle thing like a view bother us after all we wouldn't see much of it! The air conditioner was a problem - it either worked too well or not enough. No adjusting this one. Not a problem - if it got too cold you just turn it off. We did end up with EXCELLENT maid service and always had plenty of extra towels. Hint a few extra $ on the bed each morning goes a long way! The Food - We went with the all inclusive plan which was a big mistake for us. The breakfast was okay but we found the Theme Night dinners not to be very appetizing. The Mirimar was not as good as last year either. But we did find some GREAT spots to eat at that we wouldn't have found if the HI food was good, so it was a small blessing huh! The Pelican's Nest has excellent food and it's right on the water. Tony Roma's also has excellent food - the Ribs are wonderful! The People - Other
than a small problem with the HI front desk, everyone we met on our trip was very nice.
The wait staff and bartenders at the hotel were the nicest people - always serving you
with a smile and willing to play around Party - NOT If
you're looking for a part place, the HI is not the kind of hotel for you. It's laid back,
relaxed and runs on a slow pace. We noticed there were a lot of newlyweds, families with
kids and older couples there. We're in our 30's Our Stay - Our overall stay was WONDERFUL! We were either in the water , diving, snorkeling or laying on the beach the entire time we were there. My husband even got his certification in diving with Pelican Watersports (Excellent group of people!) We did spend one day touring the island in a Daihatsu Terios. You definitely have to do this if you plan on seeing everything on your own schedule. We had such a blast! Warning to those non adventurous people - not all the roads have signs so be prepared to let loose and have a little fun exploring everything! We managed to find the ruins, the natural bridge and baby beach. It was a lot of fun finding our way around and we really enjoyed driving the vehicle. Wish they sold them here in the states! We had a SUPER vacation. Thanks to
all our pals at Pelican Watersports - we miss you all! Can't wait to get back for another
visit. After scoping out Pasa bon dia!
