When we arrived in Aruba, we didn't have a reservation at the hotel. Since we had a "paid voucher" Melissa and Thea at the front desk, made a reservation for us. She put us in room 409, overlooking the parking lot next to the Hayatt. When we got to the room, the air conditioning was turned down to 55F. The water was running off the windows, and everything in the room was wet, including the toilet paper. We went back down to the front desk
and told Melissa that the room would That evening, my wife and I were out walking and she stumbled on the curb divider in front of the Allegro. She badly skinned her knees, shins, and hand. Melissa gave us some salve and band aids. The next day, we filed an accident report with the hotel. They suggested that we go to the hospital emergency to make sure nothing was broken. The front desk manager, Ernst Mohamed, took us in the hotel van to the emergency room (and later picked us up when we were done.) After that, each time any of the above named employees would see us, they inquired about how my wife was feeling and doing. We were placed on the European plan, thus we didn't get to know the waiters, bar tenders, etc. I thought the prices for the meals at the Allegro were quite high. We found other restaurants to eat at that were reasonable. The LePetit Cafe, just North of the Hayatt had a buffet breakfast for $6.95. This is near the Playa Linda resort. For other meals, go just across the street from the Allegro, the Salt and Pepper Cafe was good. Bus service on the island is fantastic. For $1.15 per person each way, you could travel to town in about 15 minutes. Jewelry shopping was fantastic. At the Little Switzerland shops (on Main street) we purchased jewelry at 60% off on selected items. Emeralds, rubys, diamonds, and tanzanite are top notch! We had a fantastic time, the beaches and water were great. I would go back to Aruba, however, I wouldn't waste my time taking a tour of the island unless you want to look at cacti and desert.
