Aruba Trip Report - Divi Phoenix
September 23 - October 2, 2000
Sent in by: Ed
We just returned from our second trip to Aruba. We continue to feel that there is nowhere
else to travel for a wonderful experience.
DELTA. After hearing all of the problems with Air Aruba
we decided to take a connecting flight out of Philadelphia thru Atlanta then to Aruba. We
dont like connectors but Delta was on time both ways.Plane was crowded but we are on
vacation so we found nothing to complain about.
Aruba Phoenix. We own a timeshare at this resort and felt we were treated like the most
important people in the world. The staff does everything in their power to see that we are
treated special. Dora and her staff are top notch and everyone was friendly. The
activities are numerous but non intrusive. We were introduced to the awesome talent of
Giovanni and weeks later my wife and i are still doing the wash wash.We met alot of
friendly people but their are clicks formed after many years and we felt alone at
times. What we did was talk to others who felt the same way and boom we made friends. The
staff made all of our reservations and called taxis for us.The room was as beautiful as
can be,the view made me feel like i was lucky beyond belief to vacation in this
paradise. The beach had seaweed in spots but this is another one of those whining
complaints from spoiled self centered people. The water was warm, clean, and we loved it.
Restaurants.
Twinklebones. Food was average at best. The entertainment was worth the price of the
meal. The singers were very talented and the dancers were beautiful. We purchased a tape for
20 that is a nice keepsake. The owner not only cooks the meals but comes out and entertains
and hailed us a taxi.I truly felt he was trying to show how grateful he was for us coming
there. We will probably return and give the food another chance.
El Gaucho.
We made advanced reservations and were seated within 15 minutes. The food was very good but
it is so hectic and noisy that it was not as great an experience as we had hoped.
Madam Janette. We made an exception and went back to this place twice. The food was
exceptional, the atmosphere romantic, and the staff top notch.I highly recommend the angel
hair pasta with shrimp. We will always plan a yearly visit to this wonderful almost
unknown restaurant.
French Steakhouse.
UMMM OOOO LAAAAAA LAAAAAA. What a pleasant surprize this was.The steak was much better
then El Gaucho,
the atmosphere was romantic, the service was the most professional, and we lived every
minute of it.
Italian Restaurant at Wyndam. Sorry i dont remember the name but their Italian food is
wonderful Their soup is the best ive ever eaten and their wait staff are friendly and love
to talk. Again well be back.
Sonesta Beach
Yep thre are topless on the island but after a while you seen one you seen em both. Its
sexy for about 30 minutes then thats that. However the beach is great with nice waves and
wonderful wild life.
Special Things
Divi Village Fiesta. The food at this buffet was exceptional. The talent of
Giovanni and his beautiful talented daughter kept us smiling. The dancers were awesome and
we danced our legs off. A must see.
Honeymooners. We met such nice kids on their honeymoons, that i feel that there is
wonderful hope for the future. We got married at 20 and 18,and have been married for 32
years. Your smiles and love in your eyes reminded us that love is all that matters. God
bless you and keep you all together always. I read on the bulletin board those that are so wrapped up in
drinking, and drugs (a sad substitute for the high of love). Aruba is not what you are
looking for if you like these things. Go to Jamaica or somewhere else cause we would like
to keep Aruba as it is a nice place for decent people young and old.
Taxi to airport. On our way to the airport the driver asked if we would mind if
he picked up his son from school. We didnt mind and to see the boy kiss his father hello
and smile at two foreigners, was worth the trip. Im sure that if it had been another
couple it would have been a complaint on the bulletin board. To us it is a sign of
everything kind about the Aruban people. Thank you for
inviting us to stay in your wonderful country.
Bon Bini and God bless.
