Aruba Trip Report - Holiday Inn Beach Resort
August 28 - September 2, 2000
Sent in by: Natalie & Eric Berman
Our tripped started on a Monday where it was an all day traveling adventure
from Dallas. When we arrived at the Holiday Inn hotel, finally, after 12 hours, we loved
the open air lobby and could see the beautiful beach immediately. The first room we were
assigned was not completely clean, but the front desk was more than happy to accommodate
us with an upgraded view room right away. We received wrist bands for the all-inclusive
and could go just about anywhere in the hotel and gets drinks or food by just signing a
slip. I highly recommend the all-inclusive if you don't want to carry around cash and
traveler's checks.
We went on the horseback adventure at the Daimari Ranch and loved it. It was definitely worth it and it
made our trip.
The beach at the Holiday Inn was the nicest and biggest setup. Holiday Inn
has almost 3x the amount of beach as any of the other hotels. The pool area
was disappointing (only 1 when most of the other hotels on Palm Beach
had two or more large pool areas).
Everyday the hotel staff was cleaning. For a beach front resort, there is
virtually no sand inside the hotel.
The casino was good too. Holiday Inn's casino was one of the only ones with
a sports book in addition to standard tables and slots.
The buffet food left a lot to be desired and was not very appetizing. We found that
everything that was cooked fresh to order was great but the buffet food sat out awhile. I
highly recommend the Miramar Restaurant but it requires a reservation and they fill up
every morning by 8:30 AM or earlier.
The show, Broadway Jukebox, was surprisingly good. The singers made the show but I think
it is only worth it on an all-inclusive b/c you do not pay full
price.
Overall, it was a nice experience, but I think upon our return trip we will
try an upgraded resort with a nicer pool area and better food.
Have a wonderful vacation!
