Aruba Trip Report - Allegro Beach Resort
Travel dates not disclosed
Sent in by: Kim and Kevin
Just returned from a magical
vacation in Aruba. We were generally pleased with our accomodations at the Allegro. The
room needed some updating but we had requested a king size bed and a room on a high floor
with a good view. We were suprised to find our 6th floor room had spectacular views of the
beautiful Allegro pool and the gorgeous carribean ocean. The staff were helpful and
friendly, check in was not a problem and the drinks were good. We were expecting a bigger
variety of beer but were satisfied with the Miller, Amstel lite, and Arubian beer which
were offered.
The biggest disappointment was the food at the Allegro Restaraunts. We weren't expecting
five star cuisine, but, the menus were limited and the food was simply average or less
than average. Even the nicest of the restaraunts, Caruso's was lacking as far as the
quality of food served there. We ate there twice because my first entree was actually very
good. I had the broiled grouper. The appetizers and salad however were run of the mill and
I think the fried calamari was the kind you get from the grocer's freezer. The second time
we went to Caruso's, we had nothing positive to say about the food. Since the grouper was
so good the first time I ordered it again and this time it was overcooked. My boyfriend's
linguine with bolegnese sauce contained unidentifiable meat and no tomato sauce, lastly,
the Tirimasu had gelatin like strands running through it so needless to say, we left there
hungry that night.
There are wonderful restaraunts on the island, we tried three; Madame Janettes - beautiful
atmosphere, terrific food, friendly staff, Flying Fishbone -we ate on the beach under the
stars- so romantic and again wonderful food but the best of the best had to be Trattoria
El Faro Blanco located by the California lighthouse - While watching the most spectacular
sunset, and taking advantage of the most beautiful views of Aruba, a chilled bottle of Dom
Perignon was uncorked at our table, and my dreams came true as my boyfriend proposed in
the most beautiful place I could imagine. If your curious, my answer was a resounding yes!
We will forever remember this magical island. When we return to Aruba, and we will return,
we will definitely be staying at the Hyatt. If you have the funds and want to indulge the
Hyatt is a stunning resort with fish-filled ponds, exotic birds, beautiful grounds and
delicious restaraunts. So enjoy your upcoming vacation and e-mail me if you have any
questions.
