Holiday Inn Trip Report - April 21-29,
2000
Sent in by: Ron and Donna Ladley
My wife and I choose the Holiday Inn
Resort in Aruba to celebrate our first
wedding anniversary. The settings were very nice, and since it was at the
end of May, it was not too crowded. The pool area is beautiful, and a new
outdoor-bar is being constructed right next to it. I also liked how the
water sports pier was right there. ParaSailing was a blast!!!
However, I must caution anyone who plans to dine there. Unfortunately, my
last two days had me stuck in bed with a high fever, and diahorrea.
According to the hospital, in Aruba (yes, I actually went), it was a virus
that can easily contracted by food, or by touching a door knob for that
matter! There is nothing worse than being stuck in a foreign country sick as
a dog, and having to cancel plans!
I reported this to the hotel manager the night before we left. I showed him
my medical bills (Aruba's hospital fees, prescriptions from the Santa Anna
Pharmacy) and I felt as though he did not care. This left a bad taste in my
mouth about the Holiday Inn at Aruba. I got the impression that he figured
we were leaving tomorrow anyway. But, what about future people travelling
there? I suggested that they may want to have a better look at how their
food is handled and prepared, or maybe inspect how the cleaning service is
performing. I guess what's done is done?
Our next try will be the Allegro or the Marriott. I don't see us going to
the Holiday Inn again. It's sad that one thing can spoil it.
