April 13th 2000
This day has finally arrived!! I'm so excited..I am up with the birds getting
ready to go--8 yrs ago we had no kids and now I leave behind 2 little guys
sleeping (ages 6 and 3)..WE arrived at Newark Airport at 8:30 AM to find
our flight had been delayed 1 hr( NO BIGGIE)We finally boarded at 10:20
am--smooth ride--Breakfast on Air Aruba was yuckky strawberry pancakes.fresh fruit and hard croissant...(bring plenty of snacks for trip)...I had ginger ale ,Bert (my husband had screwdriver and fell asleep)..Happy to be on my way to sunny climate! When the plane landed in Aruba the entire plane was yelling Horray!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are here! Going thru airport was a breeze, But boy has Aruba changed..No more getting off on runway ..Now very modernized..We got out of airport in less than 5 mins, got luggage and hopped on a cab...Was at Allegro in 10 mins..

and ocean..We were happy.. The room: we had a king size bed, iron and ironing board, fridge, very small balcony ( but nice) very clean rooms.Perfect start.. Well, when we arrived on the island we were told there was a major power outage on entire island--which lasted for like 8 hrs---It was kinda fun and we made the best of it. We lunched at the Tradewinds...OK food--there is where we met Randy and Cathy who we hung out with pretty much the entire trip.. we had a very romantic dark first night on Aruba!! When the power was finally restored at 11;30 PM THE ENTIRE ISLAND was roaring!!

Then beach, beach beach.....Water was incredible Beaches smooth clean and white..Lounged all day..Sunned drank tons of pina colodas...Pool was crowded...preferred the beach anyway..Got our water raft and layed in water on and off for hrs! Lunch: do the grouper fingers Best on the menu...Salad is ok too...Back to beach until sunset---What a hard day! Dinner at La petite Cafe ( on our dine around) EXcellent!! we went there with 2 other couples...After dinner gambled at the Hyatt then off to bed

Click to enlarge!Day 3: Beach frozen drinks..Caruso's for dinner in hotel tonight..It was pretty good..Then off to casino where I won 100 bucks on slots!!
Sunday--Rented a jeep and went to see the Natural Pool----It was a very rough ride...But fun! Did some 4 wheeling that day and saw some breathtaking sights........Then we took a drive to Eagle beach to see the Tam ( we honeymooned there 8 yrs ago) It was runned down and the beach was gone --we were so surprised to see how its changed..Tonight was dinner at Brisas del Mar...It was awesome---great view sat on water and ate dinner---The food is Arubain and very good---Must  see---Bert had filet mignon which I cut with my butter knive and I had coco shrimp--so good--Back to Allegro---Had some cocktails---Here is a tip for ya--the drinks at the allegro were very weak---cheap rum....If you tip the bartenders they WILL pull out 151 Rum..But beware my husband payed the price for that!

Monday
--trip is winding down-UGH
Spent the morning shopping for our kids..Then to grocery store for Dutch
cheese and chocolates! delicious..Then back to beach to soak up last rays--
Off to BBQ tonight with limbo dancers..Very fun... I'm going to miss Aruba!!
I bought an Aruba Xmas ornament for next yr..Very nice momento I thought!

Tuesday--Last day! Went to buy some last minute gifts--tshirts and stuff-- then found our friends and layed by the pool for a few hrs--- Airport---Customs was a breeze-------flight delayed again-----Will fly American next time if we can. All Inclusive vs NOT-- Hard one cause we loved the allegro and the pool and grounds were beautiful---Maybe I would do semi inclusive instead--we thought food was just ok-----It wears on you after awhile is all-- Allegro had nice people and the hotel was hopping every day with carribean music to get you going!! when we go back we will be looking into time shares ( since we will be taking out boys with us)

Bye Aruba!! P .S. Scooby on the beach will get you anything you need if you
know what I mean, Nice guy! Also say hi to Paris for us he is the bartender at the beach bar and he takes  good care of you!
