Aruba has many places
and things that are very appealing to kids as well as adults. A few of
the things we mention here could go a long way towards keeping your kids happy while you
enjoy your vacation. One thing you
could try is fishing.....cast a line out along
the shore in Savaneta, from the causeway at Renaissance Aruba Beach Resort & Casino or
off the rocks at Malmok. Check out the fishing fleet returning at noon or late in the
afternoon when it arrives at the Bali pier and see the small wooden boats at Fisherman's
Huts heavy with today's catch.
| The clean white sands of
Aruba provide a playing field for kids where they can let their imagination run away with
them. They can dream up and sculpt sandcastles of all shapes and sizes,
maybe a dinosaur or two.... |

Windsurfing
lessons are also available for kids. They tend to start early in Aruba, but if you feel
this is a little too ambitious for the younger ones, they can still make good use of the
wind! Playful tropical breezes make kite flying so easy and so successful from
anywhere on the island. |
Take the kids to the north
shore on a 'safari' and look for wildlife such as wild donkeys,
rabbits, goats, iguanas and all sorts
of lizards. Don't forget to look up for pelicans and parrots
of all colours. If you get lost, just follow the divi divi trees which
point towards the area of the island where most hotels are.
You might want to get into a pair of pants
or shorts you don't particularly mind messing up a little bit and go for a slide
on the dunes at Boca Prins ... it's something like surfing on dry land!
The KIBAIMA MINIATURE VILLAGE PARK shows you some of Aruba's delights in miniature,
plus there's a playground for children and surroundings with ample flora and
fauna. Parties also
organized. Tel. (297) 5851830
There's also the INDIAN ROCK GARDEN which has a display of many tropical plants and
exotic birds. Call Mr. Adolf Oduber on (297) 5847366. Parties also organized.
Some other activities you may want to check out for older children are horseriding and miniature golf.
| Its a good idea to check out some
things before choosing your hotel, like whether there are activities during
the day and evening for kids, for what ages, whether there are baby-sitting
services, and things like a kiddie pool and supervised
play area. Some hotels have special programs and activities for kids. |
